Named after the Cascade volcanoes The Three Sisters, the city of Sisters has the charm and insouciance of the Old West. Established in 1901, it was a supply station for sheepherders. The original settlement was located three miles northeast of the current location and was called Camp Polk. It was a short lived military camp and after that a homestead. Resembling a Western town during the decade of the 1880s, you'll hear flavorful place names such as Three-fingered Jack, and Frog Camp. Horseback riding opportunities abound and there’s even a local blacksmith! Golfer will find a variety of challenging courses. Fishermen of all levels will enjoy fly fishing the Metolius River. Hikers can find numerous opportunities. In small-town Sisters you can enjoy a quiet stroll through town or attend the world-famous Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. The many varieties of shops include those of several master crafters. You may be invited to watch the creation of intricate clocks and timepieces or simply gaze in awe at hand-carved Native American flutes and luminescent glassware. Within
an easy commute to the larger cities of Bend
and Redmond, you have ample opportunity for
entertainment of a more sophisticated nature. But Sisters has plenty
of events of its own to enjoy!
Be sure to take a look at the Events
Calendar for information on activities available through the year.
